About the event

The main crux of the course will show one how to become more than a teacher; you will be shown how to be a life-changer.

Description of the Workshop-The workshop will cover a plethora of educational tools ranging from curriculum design, development and integration of lesson plans, effective and engaging presentations, classroom and lab management, and differentiated learning techniques to engage all student learners in the classroom and lab. The course is intended for all welding instructors at both the high school and post-secondary levels. 

What is it? The program is a 5-day workshop that will be limited to 20 attendees per seminar, broken up into approximately 30% classroom time and 70% lab time.

(40) Professional Development Hours

All welding consumables, metal, and coupons to complete the tasks assigned• Prints and Rubrics of the projects that will be built and welded that you can bring back to your program. 

Mid-Morning and Afternoon snacks and lunch daily

Course Outline

Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Fundamentals and Practical skills in the welding lab.

SMAW Theory

Electrode selection (Fast Freeze, Fast Fill, Low hydrogen).

Lab activities and how to use them most effectively when teaching students.

Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) working on Fundamentals and Practical skills in the welding lab.

GMAW Theory

FIller wire and Gas Selection

Setup, demo, and Lab activities using the Short Circuit, Globular, and Spray metal transfer modes.

Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) working on Fundamentals and Practical skills in the welding lab.

FCAW Theory

FIller wire and Gas Selection, Setup, Demos, and Lab activities

Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) working on Fundamentals and Practical skills in the welding lab.

GTAW Theory

Oxy-fuel and Plasma Cutting

Print Reading and Weld Symbols- Fabricate, build, and weld projects according to a print.

Special Guest: Jason Becker

Jason is a welder/fabricator with 25 years of hands-on experience in the welding industry. Jason is a Marine Corps Veteran and served during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom from 2001-to 2005. He is also an AWS Certified Welding Inspector and Certified Welding Educator CWI/CWE).  While teaching welding at his local college, Jason pursued his Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management from Seminole State College and graduated with honors in 2016. He also served as the Host of Weld.com from 2019-to 2021. Jason now works full-time as a welding Program Manager at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida.  Additionally, he hosts the Arc Junkies Podcast with a mission to help, educate and inspire the next generation of welders.
